LADING

Gala

It’s that time of the year again, looking back, looking forward, feeling stuck in the middle. Every time around, I feel like a list of gratitude and some new resolutions might do good. It seems I never learn.

It’s been a shitty year. I’m glad it’s over and I’m ready for a new one, although being stuck at midnight for at least a couple of days sounds like a good sci-fi story to wish for.

If there’s anything I want to keep with me going forward, the photo above says it all. It’s a snapshot from the Romanian version of Gala, a dance performance by Jérôme Bel.

If you ever felt lonely and misunderstood…

If you ever felt you’re coming up short against what people and the world expect of you…

If you ever needed a reminder that you are not alone…

If you ever doubted that there’s beauty and power in your imperfections…

If you ever wanted to open up and scream your dreams…

If you ever wanted a shoulder to cry on or a friendly embrace…

If you ever looked in the eyes of a stranger and saw your own soul staring back…

If you don’t know if there’s any point to all of this struggle…

If you’re doing your best to find your way…

If you’re lost, but you’re not giving up…

… then Gala is for you. An ode to all the small things that make us human and to the hope that this is not for nothing after all.

So let’s buckle up and give it another go around the sun.

Be well.
